Missionaries from our Vernon United Methodist Church have participated
in the Red Bird Mission Trip in the last four years. We have had the opportunity
to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus in Southeastern
Kentucky.
Our Red Bird team is part of a group of 8-10 churches from New
Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, who joined hands in the repair
and renovation of homes to make them safe, more comfortable
and long lasting for their owners.
The participants truly made a difference in the lives of the people
there by using their God’s given skills and bringing the love of Jesus
with action.

Last year, our church sent missionaries to the mission center in Beverly, KY. Bobbie De Graaf, Chuck Reaves, Michele Landtau, Mike O’Hanlon, Rick Border, Ryan Lally, Sam Perez and Sue Gales joined 94 other missionaries from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, to practice their faith with action. Together, they worked in three roofing projects and one bathroom project in the community, and one dormitory project and one flooring project in the Red Bird campus. The missionaries not only worked in their projects but brought Jesus’ love and care to homeowners by distributing prayer shawls and blankets, praying with them and by simply engaging in conversation with them. Furthermore, the Vernon UMC missionaries delivered 1,219 Box Tops and 88 Labels for Education which will help the center fund their mission efforts in Appalachia.

The Red Bird Team appreciates the Vernon Church, family and friends for their prayers and financial support.
It is our hope that the passion we  have for Red Bird continues to spread in the years to come.

Our next mission trip is planned for July 15-22, 2017.
